All realities start with a thought...

Throughout history, different spiritual and philosophical traditions—separated by time, geography, and language—have pointed to the same fundamental truth: the mind is the origin of experience.

Nothing we live arises in isolation or by accident; all reality, personal or collective, first comes into being as a thought.

This idea is neither new nor exclusive to a single tradition. It appears clearly in Buddhism, Hermeticism, and Toltec wisdom, each offering a complementary perspective on the same principle.

The Genesis in the bible reads: "on the first day, God said, "Let there be light." Instantly, the light appeared and was separated from the darkness. God called the light "day" and the darkness "night," marking the beginning of time and being classified by Himself as good"

The Dhammapada, one of the foundational texts of Buddhism, expresses this directly in its first teaching:

> “All that we are is the result of what we have thought.

> It is founded on our thoughts and made of our thoughts.”

Here we are shown that the mind not only influences reality, but structures it. What we perceive as life, identity, or destiny is nothing more than the crystallization of mental patterns sustained over time. Suffering, just like peace, does not come from the external world, but from the contents of the mind that interprets and recreates it.

This same understanding appears in Hermeticism, condensed in the first principle of the Kybalion:

> “The one who understands the truth that the universe is mental

> is far advanced on the path of mastery.”

Here the idea expands even further: not only does the human being create their experience through the mind, but the entire universe is a mental manifestation. Reality is not something solid, fixed, or independent, but a living expression of consciousness. Grasping this marks a turning point: one moves from living as an effect of circumstances to recognizing oneself as an active participant in the creation of experience.

Toltec wisdom, transmitted by Dr. Miguel Ruiz in The Four Agreements, translates this truth into everyday and psychological language. In its first chapter, it states:

> “Dreaming is the main function of the brain.”

From this perspective, the human mind dreams reality. The world we perceive is a collective dream sustained by mental agreements: beliefs inherited from family, culture, society, and the history of this planet. However, the most powerful agreements are not the external ones, but those we make with ourselves.

These internal agreements repeat themselves day after day and define:

* who we believe we are,

* what we feel,

* what we believe in,

* and how we think we “should” behave.

This set of agreements is what we call personality.

The problem is not having agreements, but that most of them do not exalt the greatness of our being; instead, they limit it, distort it, or diminish it.

Eckhart Tolle, in his book The Power of Now, also expresses this idea:

> “The mind is a wonderful instrument if used correctly.

> However, if used incorrectly, it becomes a terrible master.”

Tolle emphasizes that many people live trapped in a compulsive mental narrative, and that this narrative is not reality itself, but their own mental construction of reality:

> “What you perceive as reality is often nothing more than the mental representation of that reality.”

Everything we believe, feel, and perceive—our identity, our inner world, and our relationship with the external world—**has its origin in the mind**.

And all these philosophies agree on one essential point: transformation begins by observing and reconfiguring the mind, not by trying to change the “outside” without first examining the “inside.”
